Session 1--- Instructional Leadership and Collaborations (December 11, 12, 2008)
Instructional Leadership encompasses those actions that a leader takes, or delegates to others, to promote growth in student learning. Content will illustrate the essential connection of collaboration and strong leadership. How does a leader facilitate internal and external collaborations that will strengthen CTAE? It will also provide an overview of the academy experience as well as components and assignments. Attention will be given regarding leadership skills and styles as well as the importance of the leader’s role. Each participant will begin to construct a leadership plan which will be used throughout the experience.

Session 2 --- State Policy and Legislative Processes (January 28, 29, 2009)
This session will be conducted in conjunction with Ohio ACTE Legislative Seminar and will focus on the role of leadership, its power and dynamics with in state legislative process. The plans for the National Policy Seminar meeting will be secured with an overview of activities that will take place in Washington DC.

Session 3--- Education and Economic Summit (February 24, 25, 2009) Columbus, Ohio
In collaboration with the Ohio Department of Education, Office of Career-Technical Education, this session will focus on the current issues in CTAE. The complex context of education will be analyzed and how that context influences leadership behaviors in various settings to accomplish tasks and attain goals. The final plans for the National Policy Seminar meeting will be discussed.

Session 4--- A National Policy Perspective (March 9, 10, 11, 2009) Washington, DC
Congressional Visits at the ACTE National Policy Seminar will take place to discuss current issues facing career-technical and adult education. Interviews with respective members of Congress will take place as well as attending sessions conducted by ACTE.

Session 5--- Trends and Issues, Evaluation and Accountability and Leading Reform (May 7, 8, 2009)
This session will assist you in applying your role in instructional leadership and how that role assists in leading change. It will also address accountability and evaluation strategies, why it is important to implement such strategies as a leader and how data should inform decisions. Keeping abreast of trends and issues is a key characteristic of strong leaders. How do you keep on top the latest trends and issues as well as create and shape educational experiences to address them.
