Session 1: Personal Leadership Development (September 28-30, 2006) Columbus,
Ohio
This session will provide an overview of the academy experience as well as components and assignments. The content will focus on leadership skills and styles as well as the importance of the leader's role. Participants will look in depth at the skills and styles they possess and identify ones to strengthen. Each participant will begin to construct a leadership plan which will be used throughout the experience.

Session 2: Collaboration and Accountability/Evaluation (November 16-18, 2006)
Columbus, Ohio
This session will look at accountability and evaluation strategies, why it is important to implement such strategies as a leader and how data should drive decisions. A session will illustrate the essential connection of collaboration and strong leadership. How does a leader facilitate internal and external collaborations that will strengthen CTAE? What are the strategic collaborations that assist in the reform and change efforts? How does a leader build successful partnerships and collaborations?

Session 3: State Policy and Legislative Processes (January 24-25, 2007)
This session will be conducted in conjunction with Ohio ACTE Legislative Seminar and will focus on the role of leadership, its power and dynamics with in state legislative process. The plans for the National Policy Seminar meeting will be secured with an overview of activities that will take place in Washington DC.

Session 4: Policy and Leadership (February 20-21, 2007) Columbus, Ohio
In collaboration with the Ohio Department of Education, Office of Career-Technical Education, this session will focus on the current issues in CTAE. The complex context of education will be analyzed and how that context influences leadership behaviors in various settings to accomplish tasks and attain goals. The final plans for the National Policy Seminar meeting will be discussed.

Session 5: A National Policy Perspective (March 4-7, 2007) Washington, DC
Congressional Visits at the ACTE National Policy Seminar will take place to discuss current issues facing career-technical and adult education. Interviews with respective members of Congress will take place as well as attending sessions conducted by ACTE. Being in our nation's capitol - a history of Ohio ACTE/ACTE will be shared!

Session 6: Instructional Leadership and Leading Reform (May 10-12, 2007)
Instructional Leadership encompasses those actions that a leader takes, or delegates to others, to promote growth in student learning and comprises the following tasks: defining the purpose of schooling; setting school-wide goals; providing the resources needed for learning to occur; supervising and evaluating instructors; coordinating staff development programs; and creating collegial relationships with and among faculty and staff. This session will assist you in identifying your role in instructional leadership and how that role helps to lead change.
